Hey Paul,

It would be interesting to know what percentage of their operations are funded by subscriptions.

Because in the rest of the industry, subscriptions are basically a loss leader, almost. Giving it away for free and increasing readership can actually be more profitable if it increases reach significantly...

Great post! As an ex-AT&T'er, I resonate with the story of how cramming didn't really work that well. Ask the employees from NCR that went through that acquisition -- and they still hate AT&T.

This is very interesting -- and it will be interesting to see if this cram succeeds. I agree with you that Murdoch is one savvy guy. My bet is that this one flies.
